St. Luke Early Childhood Center

The mission of St. Luke Early Childhood Center is to provide the foundation for a lifelong love of learning by nurturing the whole child through exploration and creativity in a Catholic spirit.

We are an educational opportunity provided by the parish in support of families with young children. Accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, St. Luke Early Childhood Center is part of the Catholic School System in the Dioceses of St. Petersburg.

Celebrating 30+ years, we offer quality education for 2, 3, and 4 year olds, Free VPK, flexibility of part time and full time care, a “Lunch Bunch” program and “Kids Morning Out” year-round for children 15 months and up.

Children's School of Faith at St. Luke the Evangelist

Religious formation is offered to children in grades K-8th grade. Since parents are the primary educators of their children, our program is here to assist parents in their responsibility to educate their children in the Catholic faith.

In addition to sharing our Catholic faith, we work with parents to prepare their children to receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation.

One hour classed are held weekly throughout the school year from Early September until the end of May in the Ministry Building -Sundays 10:20 am to 11:20 am.

Dear SOF Parents:

We hope that all of you are safe and well and stay that way for the future.   We are looking forward to your return in September and hope that you will be able to help us in the preparation for this as you receive this email.   We are working to have an early registration drive now so that we can be prepared for new classroom sizes or whatever else will be required of us when we return to SOF in September.

Attached are 2 registration forms to use to reserve your child(ren)’s  seat for religious education classes for the 2020-2021 school year.   Just fill out these 3 pages (2 pages in the family document and 1 page in the student document) and return to SOF by email or US mail.  This will qualify you to receive the lower tuition fee prior to the fee increase in August.

The fees for early registration are as follows:

SOF REGISTRATION FEES:                                         SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION  FEES:

First child  $55                                                            First Holy Communion   $55 + $55=$110                     Second child $25                                                       Confirmation                    $75

Third child +++ $20

We need your response now to set in motion everything that we need to take into account in order to prepare for our next school year.  Please do not ignore this request.  It is essential to moving ahead under new rules that may restrict classroom size.  Your response will insure a seat for your child’s attendance in the fall.

Thank you for your cooperation in returning the registration forms to me by June 15, 2020.

Rite of Christian Initiation

RCIA is a wonderful process of preparing children and adults to enter into full communion with Christ and His Church. It is a journey of knowledge, faith and heart and what it means to be Catholic, and so much more. The Rite of Christian Initiation introduces inquirers to the teaching of the Church and those seeking Baptism, Eucharist and/or Confirmation. Originally designed for adults seeking Baptism, it has been adapted to include children over the age of seven.

The Diocese of St. Petersburg requires that children/youth complete one full year of catechesis to be eligible for initiation. This year may be completed in the parish Faith Formation Program (regular grade level) or Catholic School.

Each catechumen/candidate will need a sponsor who is an active, practicing Catholic in good standing. Sponsors will be required to participate in weekly meetings and in all group Liturgical Rites.

The conversion process into the Church takes approximately one year. Participants and sponsors commit to a 1 ½ to 2 hour weekly group meeting.

Enrollment is ongoing; with formal programs starting in the fall and ending at the Easter Vigil.
