APA Annual Pastoral Appeal
What is the Annual Pastoral Appeal?
All of the parishes and missions in the Diocese of St. Petersburg contribute roughly 13% of their combined parish revenues to fund the operating budget of our diocesan level ministries and services which serve our five counties. The Annual Pastoral Appeal (APA) is an annual fundraiser, or appeal, to the parishioners of the diocese asking them to contribute directly to support diocesan ministries and services. The ultimate goal for each parish and mission is to reach or exceed the assessment amount through APA.
APA ECONOMICS: To the extent that St. Luke's exceeds the assessment the additional funds are held for us in a savings account at the Diocese for our use in the future to meet our parish needs. Further any amounts donated to APA are not included in computing our assessment for the following year. If we do not donate enough to APA to meet our assessment it will be taken from our general donations and will still be counted in computing our assessment for the coming year. We call obtaining these benefits through donating to APA “APA Economics”
We stress that there are several tax efficient ways to donate to APA. Donating appreciated stock allows donors to get the full market value of the stock as a donation without paying any capital gain tax. For details on stock gifts to our Parish or APA call Mr. David E. Ridenour, at (727) 341-6858 or via email at [email protected] You can also donate a portion of your IRA Required Minimum Distributions (RMD) which will reduce your income for computing other benefits. For details call Meegan Wright at (727) 344 1611 Ext 5337.
The funds raised are used in part to:
All gifts are welcomed and valued. We invite you to respond in the following ways:
Offer a prayer of thanksgiving for those who have given to the Annual Pastoral Appeal.
Reflect on Christ’s call to be Catholic Stewards who accept responsibility to return a portion of the gifts we have received from God in gratitude.
Make a sacrificial gift or pledge according to your means and current circumstances.
If you have more questions about APA you can contact one of the members of the Stewardship Ministry: Steve Putnam (727-580-0979); or call the office and ask one of the following to call you: Gail Barney, Michael King, Rob Hamill, or Sigifredo Restrepo
